5.0 out of 5 stars Great!! Exceptional value. UPDATE: DEAD IN 5 MONTHS!
By Uncle Willie
I feel pretty embarrassed that I ever wrote this, since the computer croaked in 5 months, but I’ll let it stand as a warning. This thing is junk. I’m back to brand names! Now, here’s what I thought at first:A loaded computer for under $500? And who's Nimo? But Amazon's returns are so easy, I figured I'd give it a try.I'm glad I did! It's a wonderful machine, crazy good for this price point. I've had it for a month, and everything's been perfect, maybe even a little better than that.My experiences have been great. Careful packaging for shipping. The laptop a good weight, substantial but not opressive. I ordered the dark Blue by accident, knowing I could return it, but I've ended up liking it: it still looks professional, and it's a welcome break from the monotony of Black. Setup directions are onboard and setup is fast and easy, even if you want to customize them. The machine was up and running in less than an hour, everything transferred and connected flawlessly.Operation is cool and quiet. I was again surprised by how fast, easy, and secure the fingerprint function is. Now I wouldn't be without it. The screen is just right, big but not overwhelming, very crisp, sharp, and natural. The size makes a big difference for ease of use, but the machine feels hardly bigger than my old one. It's fast, and I was amazed at what I had been putting up with in my old computer. (I felt like I had got out of jail.) The keyboard layout is logical and compact, even though the keys are bigger than those of my old Asus laptop. The backlighting is helpful, a touch cheerful, no matter what the ambient light. The sound is the usual for a laptop, and at home I like to attach my Klipsch speakers, which sound fine. What's not to like? So far, so good. I feel like I got a great deal on a great computer. I'd recommend it to anyone. Since Nimo is still pretty unknown, I bought an extra warranty for two years. (If the computer turns out to have any problems, they will show up by then.)Check it out. If you don't like it, you can return it. And if you do like it, you'll feel pretty clever about it.UPDATE: BEWARE!! DEAD IN 5 MONTHS. Thank heaven I bought insurance with it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid 17" Laptop Suitable for Most Personal and General Business Productivity
By Trav Tedesco
This is a solid 17" Intel I-3 chip laptop with a generous 32GB of Ram and a 1TB HHD. Out of many I looked at, all things considered, it was probably the best bang for my book in this price range of sub $500 laptops in this 17" category for my specific needs.Well-built and feels solid and other than the usual updates, was ready to go only minutes out of the box. However, I noticed the monitor portion of the laptop can shake a bit if it is open, such as when moving laptop from place to place with the clamshell open. While it does have a bright back-lit screen, for this price point, they did have to cut corners somewhere, which means only 60mhz refresh rate instead of easier on the eyes 120mhz, and no back-lit keyboard either, which I've grown accustomed to on newer laptops as well. Same for the lack of out of box productivity software such as Office or the fact it's Win 11 Home, and not the Pro version, which his geared more for business work or remote sharing or being able to add to a work domain. Also, the video card is integrated with the main chip, so while this should handle most business or personal productivity applications with the whopping 32GB of RAM and generous hard-drive space--it will likely only be middle of the road or only work on more demanding games on the lowest settings on graphics, such as Fortnite, for example, and is not a 'gaming' machine by any stretch.I was aware of these small, short-comings going into the purchase so it wasn't an issue or deal-breaker for me, but if they are important to you, then it should be considered.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
