4.0 out of 5 stars Great laptop, but needs clarification on certain points
By engineezy
I'm loving this laptop. I'm in engineering school, and this is the kind of laptop I need for portability and power. It's less than an inch thick, and super lightweight for its size. I bought an ROG M16 before this, and this feels lighter than that machine, and it's significantly sturdier. I have to run software like Solidworks and AutoCAD/Revit/Fusion 360 all the time. The RTX 4070 and the 64GB of RAM help a lot with multitasking, and are great for having multiple resource-intensive programs open at the same time. The battery will actually get me through a full day of note-taking in classes (~6hrs) and still have battery left over for homework at the end of the night, as opposed to my old tablet, which was a ROG Flow Z13 with an i9. When testing the Thunderbolt transfer speeds, I was easily able to hit over 1GB/sec with a Thunderbolt m.2 enclosure and a PCIe 3.0 SSD. The Steelseries keyboard is amazing to type on for long periods of time, and I have a very low error rate on this keyboard. I keep the RGB off though to save battery, so I can't comment on that. The numpad is functional, though it is cramped and I struggle to use it efficiently in Excel. I haven't hit the power button accidentally yet so far, and I don't think I will thanks to the button being located over to the right side of the numpad. The screen is awesome, some would say Retina quality. It is a matte display, as expected, though there is a good amount of backlight bleed on one spot on the bottom edge of the display by the MSI logo. It's particularly visible on a black screen on bootup, but I don't really notice it in Windows. In games, it might be a bit annoying when in a dark scene.A few things need to be clarified though - MSI says that this laptop has a 100% magnesium-aluminum alloy chassis. This is true, though it's not a CNC monoblock chassis like you'd expect from someone like Razer or Apple. While there is still absolutely zero flex in the deck of this laptop, there is still some flex in the lid when twisted. The metal case is cool to the touch when the unit is off, but the bottom of the case will get uncomfortably warm quickly if you're using the machine on your lap, as the name "laptop" would imply. Since it's a metal case, it can retain heat longer than a comparable plastic case.MSI also bills this laptop as "fingerprint-proof", as denoted by the prominent sticker on the laptop body. This is bunk. I don't think I have particularly oily skin, but within a week of owning this machine, my fingerprints were all over the top case and lid. It's pretty hard to get the fingerprints off, though the non-brushed aluminum skin makes it easier to fix than a brushed finish.Overall, it's a damn good laptop with a few flaws, though they can be resolved in a future version. A note on the MUX switch - the machine needs to be rebooted every time the switch is changed from discrete to integrated.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recieved with Dead Pixel On Screen
By Amazon Customer
Recently purchase this laptop to replace my old GS65 Stealth I purchase in 2019 which was by far the best laptop I have ever owned,. The new AI stealth arrived with a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen the second I turned it on. Not sure if bad quality control or careless Amazon employees tossing it around in shipment. Was really disappointed and I desperately needed the laptop for work and now have to deal with the refund process and ordering a new one which will take likely weeks. =( =(Other observations at first glace:Laptop is a little thicker and heavier than my old MSI Stealth and screen is more square than widescreen like my old stealth , which I liked more. The trackpad is HUGE and yet the keyboard and keys are smaller with the addition of the number pad which I feel I will never use and feels cramped..I always disliked the Steelseries RGB software and configuring the colors etc of the keyboard is really not intuitive at all... but that's no fault of MSI.From my few hours of using it, its seems to get very hot and I didn't game or do anything demand. My old MSI GS65 eventually died from heat so this has me worried already. Worrying.Im not really sure what the "AI" does if anything. I don't need my laptop to do AI. I just need to to do email, surf the internet, watch TV and casual gaming when I am not working which I what I bought it for. Seems like a gimmick with the recent AI craze.. maybe I am wrong. It is very nice looking piece of tech, very cool backlit stealth logo and I do like the blue color.. though some may not. It does seem solid and well built and not plastic. I had no problem with finger prints that others bitched about. It comes with very little bloatware which is a real plus.I tried to log into MSI center and get support but the program kept saying no internet.. When I have an extremely fast fiber optic connection, gig router and was able to browse. Not sure what's up with that. That doesn't bode well.I also dislike windows 11 but it is what it is. This comes with Window Pro which is good and I haven't seen many othe laptops that offfer that.I dunno... for $1800 I kinda expected more and this experience with the screen left me very disappointed and in a pinch. I might give chance and re-order..maybe just a fluke with the screen? The really high temperature is a concern. Likely will look at another brand.Bummer....
