1.0 out of 5 stars On paper, this is a nice laptop. Six months of actuap use says otherwise.

This is probably the worst laptop I've ever owned, and being someone who has spent nearly 25 years working in IT, believe me when I say I've owned LOTS of laptops. The good: this laptop is very lightweight, has all day battery and actually looks very nice. The bad: pretty much everything else. I purchased this Surface Laptop to replace my aging Surface Pro 4 and numerous times I've had to drag that one out because this steaming pile let me down. Example: the full size USB port lacks driver compatibility with a lot of devices. It all goes back to the processor architecture used in this device and the fact Microsoft was too lazy to do due diligence regarding hardware drivers. There are several threads on MSFT consumer support about this and the answer is they know about it but won't fix it. I've also run into issues with this laptop not resuming correctly from battery saving mode wherein it just won't work (apps won't open or close, it doesn't detect hardware changes like plugging/unplugging peripherals, etc). Again, I strongly suspect this is due to MSFT failing to do their due diligence when doing bug/product QA testing. TL;DR - if you're a basic user who doesn't want to connect anything (digital camera, printer, etc) to this laptop via USB, won't be using anything but basic applications (web browsing, email, etc) and don't need to pause/resume usage frequently, this is a nice laptop. If you actually want a fully functional device, save yourself the headache and go buy an Apple.

5.0 out of 5 stars IMO: Best Mac-alternative Windows laptop.
By WolverineGoBlue
My wife has been using this for her business for the past 8 months. For her, a laptop is simply a way to get a job done, but she needed a new one since her previous Dell XPS 13 was going on 7 years old. Without asking she offered up how much she likes the new laptop: How fast it was and the battery life last "forever" since she works in an environment where she cannot charge until the end of the day. So, big thumbs up. Also, the quality is more Mac-like with an aluminum case and solid/compact design. Good stuff. Some noted incompatibility with older software. While she uses primarily Office, web apps, and 1-2 older biz apps, she has experienced ZERO compatibility issues.

Frequently Asked Questions

What specific AI features are included with this Copilot+ PC, and are they all available immediately?
This laptop includes several AI features under the Copilot+ PC umbrella, but not all are available at launch. Features like Recall (for retrieving past PC activity) and real-time translation for 44 languages are part of the package. However, Microsoft notes that Recall is 'coming soon through a post-launch Windows Update,' and some Copilot+ experiences may require free updates available starting late 2024.
How does the battery life of 'up to 20 hours' work in practice, and what is required for fast charging?
The 'up to 20 hours' battery life is an estimate that varies based on usage, settings, and other factors. For fast charging (from 5% to 80%), you need a minimum 65W USB-C PD charger, which is sold separately. The included power supply is 39W and does not support the advertised fast charging capability.
What are the exact dimensions and weight of this specific Platinum configuration?
This specific model measures 11.85 x 8.67 x 0.69 inches and weighs 2.96 pounds. It features a 13.8-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 2304 x 1536 pixels.
What is the Snapdragon X Plus processor, and how does its performance compare?
The Snapdragon X Plus is a 10-core ARM-based processor from Qualcomm. According to Microsoft's testing (Cinebench 2024 Multi-threaded), pre-release versions of this laptop with the similar Snapdragon X Elite chip delivered faster performance than an Apple MacBook Air with an M3 chip.
What recycled materials are used in the construction of this laptop?
The laptop's enclosure contains a minimum of 25% recycled content. Specifically, the A Cover and C Bucket are made from 100% recycled aluminum alloy, and the magnets contain 100% recycled rare earth metals, as validated by Underwriter Laboratories (UL 2809-2).

I love my new laptop. It was so easy to set up. The 17-inch screen is wonderful, as well as the full keyboard. The mouse pad is nice and big, and the price was excellent. So glad I made this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Reliable!!

I recently bought the ACEMAGIC RX16 laptop and I’ve been really happy with it so far. It’s fast, super responsive, and handles everything I throw at it browsing, work tasks, and even gaming with no lag. As a gamer, I was surprised by how well it runs games, especially for a laptop with integrated graphics. The 16" screen is clear and vibrant, and the high refresh rate makes gameplay feel smooth. I also work in cybersecurity, and this laptop handles my tools, VMs, and scripts without any slowdown. The dual-fan cooling system does a great job keeping things cool during heavy use, and the backlit keyboard is a nice bonus for working at night. Overall, it's a solid choice for both performance and value, and I’d definitely recommend it for students, gamers, or professionals alike

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING ! ! !

So, in the past I have bought computers based more on price than features. I ended up with units that were 2 or more generations old before I opened the box. This time I bought based on specs first and price second. WOW !Incredibly fast to both retrieve and process data. (I don't do on-line games . . .) Wire sharp, photographic quality display. Lighted keys. O.k., it's missing a fingerprint reader. Boo Hoo ! Great specs, great speed and a pretty good price. What's not to like?
