Like most, I agonized in my choice after reading (too many) reviews. I was looking for a replacement for an old Samsung that had served me very well for 6 years but had lost its HDMI, most USB ports, battery and a few plastic parts.Requirements were half the weight, i7, 16GB RAM, as big an SSD as possible and smaller screen (the reclining airline seat problem). Mil-spec certification gave comfort that just maybe mishaps wouldn't cost a fortune. Finalist Asus looked cooler but was missing regular part (HDMI and USB 3.1).Construction: the Gram 14 is well built, feels solid all around. Time will tell if it survives as I hope at least 4 years.Keyboard: surprisingly comfortable and the letters are larger than usual (a plus if you need to know and then locate a key).Touchpad: much better than my old Samsung, doesn't freak out when fat paws reach out for keys above. Still for a long work session, I plug a mouse (in the standard USB port)Screen: very bright and appealing. The Reader icon is perfect for long sessions at the screen (knocks out blue I think). Touch functionality works great. Learning to use it more would eliminate the need for an external mouse, but carrying around a glass cleaning cloth is required as it is highly reflective and smudges appear all over.Fingerprint reader: weird as it is located in the power button. Not sure how if you are hitting the power button or the scanner, wondering at times if I just shut down the machine without saving.Speed: great using business software onlyTech support: several questions were answered by chat quickly with friendly and knowledgeable technicians. A big plus.Conclusion: good value, a work horse.

No reservations. This is the best laptop computer that I have ever had. Rapid start, extremely light weight, lightening fast in program/data retrieval, and execution. And, I admit that I am a confirmed "keyborder". But, I have even found the touch screen on this laptop to be a welcome addition. And, I love the long lasting battery charge. Since, I have gotten the laptop the only time I plug it in for charging is over night (and even that is not always required). Longest stretch with no charge has been three days.
