5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Powerful, Feather Light Notebook
By WaywardSand
OK, this is my second unit, but it is beautiful and everything works right out of the box.Note: the first unit shipped to me by Amazon had about a 10 inch crack diagonally across the display when I opened it right out of the box and powered it up. I've seen numerous videos of reviewers tossing these LG Grams down a set of concrete stairs, bouncing and tumbling.. and then they pick it up and it turn back on and works. So.. this clearly was some sort of factory defect that escaped LG. NOW.. this is why I love Amazon... because I immediately contacted customer support to request an exchange and they had an new unit allocated to me immediately, which shipped the next morning. No fuss, no muss... just the usual outstanding Amazon customer service. But this only works if the item is sold by Amazon, not 3rd parties.. so I always make sure that when buying expensive electronics on Amazon.... I only by directly from Amazon, NOT 3rd parties. On to the second unit, which works and is perfect in workmanship and finish. Powered up the unit and it immediately did the now famous Windows 10 configuration dialog and sequences. Took only a few minutes, and then it was up and ready to go. It performed a series of driver updates, and OS updates to bring it current, all without flaw and almost transparent to me, save for the need to log in after it did an after hours reboot to bring the OS updates online.Let me take a moment to comment on LG packaging of the unit. The package is a very compact, very sleek, yet perfect protection for the unit in shipment. LG has outstanding packaging design teams, and that goes right down to the box they ship product in. Box is double sealed with LG security tape, with a note to refuse to accept the item if the seals are broken.Unit comes with a USB C power unit, power cord for the unit, and a quick get started booklet of a few pages. Everything else is on the machine itself.Battery was about 70% charged upon receipt, so I immediately got a chance to see the unit top up the power to full.. and while doing so... it draws a lot of power from the little power unit, so both the underside of the notebook and the power unit will get warm during battery charging. But once the battery is full charge, everything cools down. So just be aware that the power unit will get warm when the battery is charging. There may be some setting adjustments to tone the rate of charge down, but I have not yet delved into the LG specific apps and features for managing the computer. The keyboard is fantastic in the 2021 LG Gram lineup, as is the new track pad design (though I prefer to use a mouse most of the time), and is quite functional and crisp if you are a trackpad user. While sound is not typically an LG Gram strong suit, I have to say the sound system in the 2021s is a step up from prior years models. All in, LG very much appears to be on a consistent path to keep in making LG Grams better and better every year.It still boggles the mind how a 16 inch notebook can be so light weight, thin, and yet rugged in design. I was a bit skeptical about the new aspect ratio (16:10) of the 16 inch screen (same as Apple does), but I am now sold on it. Plenty of screen in a form factor that is actually a bit smaller than last years LG Gram 15 inch units.Time will tell how this notebook does longer term, but if LGs reputation for their Gram line is any indicator.. it will have a long and reliable life. There are after all, no moving parts in an LG Gram other than the keyboard and the hinge for the display. Everything else is completely solid state. RAM is soldered to the board (a requirement for the new generation ram that goes with the gen 11 Intel processors), and there is a single 1 tera byte SSD.Happily LG does not load up their Grams with a lot of bloatware. From my perspective, the only programs that need to be immediately purged from the machine is McAfee LiveSafe 30 day trial (I prefer to use the tandem combo of Windows Security and Malwarebytes Premium), and Office 365 trial (I prefer a licensed copy of Office installed on my machines, not Office 365). Other than that, everything looks tight and clean on the disk image from the factory.I plan to let the machine stay powered up for the next week to insure that there are no early component issues, and then I will be moving files from my old computer to this one and expect to be completely on the new LG Gram from then on.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost excellent laptop.
By Aku
Been playing around with the 16 inch version for several weeks now. build-wise I am very pleased. The screen doesn't wobble too much and the keyboard is just lovely to use. I will say there's one potential issue, where if you put enough weight/pressure on the space left or right of the touch pad, you can get it to register as a click, but in practical use it never happened. Something to watch out for if you have massive sausage arms that lay flat on the laptop, maybe. That aside, I REALLY like the trackpad. It's been like a decade since I used a laptop pad so I was assuming a mouse would be a mandatory purchase, but not anymore. The multi-touch controls work great, and it's nice and big so I never feel like my fingers are gravitating too far into a corner to browse properly. On the software side of things I am impressed with the SSD and operating system. Once you got your user settings entered the first time around, the computer can go from the powered-off state to your home screen in like fifteen seconds. I haven't extensively tested the CPU, though I've found it can run Overwatch at low settings and 60fps with only minimal tinkering. I primarily use it for writing and the occasional google research/time waster, which it handles with ease, and I'm sure it could stream a Spotify setlise or play iTunes on top of that as well. It also didn't seem like a big deal at first, but the fingerprint scanner is so nifty to have, I have actually become spoiled on it and feel irritated when I have to type my password out on the desktop. There are some "bloatware" applications pre-installed that you could do without, such as McCaffee, but mostly the applications seem fine. There's the LG Virtoo app that can sync to an LG phone, which I also happen to have. Testing it...I mean, it works, you can send/receive calls through the laptop and copy over any photos you've taken, but the bluetooth connectivity would kill your phone battery with any extensive use, and the sound/mic quality on the Gram is not professional by any means. Far more useful is the simple control panel that has your power features, screen brightness and fan options at just a click away. There's also an LG-branded video editor, though given the Gram's low voltage and integrated graphics, I doubt you'd want to compile any 4k footage on this laptop. There's only a handful of nitpicks bring it down to a 4/5. Main thing is, for whatever reason, I can't get it to save separate power usage/brightness settings depending on whether it's plugged in or not. This is quickly fixed by clicking the battery on the taskbar and using the hotkeys to change the screen's brightness, but it is irksome to do it EVERY single time. Secondly, if you use the Gram at a less than full charge while charging, the charger brick gets surprisingly warm. I'd say it's hot, even. Lastly, the screen is really glossy. As a cave-dwelling hermit this doesn't affect me, but I can imagine using this in an outdoor setting or coffee shop with a bunch of overhead lamps might not be the best experience. Can I recommend this absurdly expensive laptop to everyone? Well, no. It fits my niche of needing a super lightweight quiet writing device with a decent screen size, easily capable of some research googles or wasting time with very light gaming sessions. In this regard I am super satisfied. If you need something for gaming, media production or media consumption, there are cheaper, better options available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'AI Copilot+ PC' mean for this specific LG gram model?
This laptop is certified as a Copilot+ PC, which requires specific AI hardware. It includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor with a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) capable of 47 TOPS, enabling accelerated on-device AI tasks directly within Windows 11 Pro, such as live translation, Recall, and Cocreator.
Is the 23.5-hour battery life realistic for general use?
The 23.5-hour rating is based on a specific video playback test. For general tasks like web browsing, document editing, and multitasking, actual battery life will be less, but the combination of the efficient Intel Ultra 9 processor, LPDDR5X RAM, and a large battery in a lightweight chassis is designed for exceptional all-day endurance.
What are the exact video output capabilities via its ports?
You can connect up to three external displays. The two Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C) ports each support 5K resolution or dual 4K displays. The HDMI 2.1 port supports 4K output. This allows for a multi-monitor setup alongside the laptop's native 17-inch WQXGA (2560x1600) touchscreen.
How does the Intel Arc integrated graphics perform for creative work or light gaming?
The integrated Intel Arc graphics are sufficient for accelerating creative applications that support it, like Adobe Photoshop or Premiere Pro, and for driving the high-resolution display. It can handle casual gaming and older titles at moderate settings, but it is not designed for demanding modern AAA games at high frame rates.
The description mentions the box is opened for upgrades. What does this mean for the warranty?
The seller opens the original manufacturer's box to install the advertised upgrades (32GB RAM and 2TB SSD) and perform testing. The laptop itself is a new 2025 LG gram model, but the warranty status may be provided by the seller rather than LG directly. You should confirm the specific warranty terms with the seller before purchasing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Under Rated Laptop!

I've tried just about every name brand laptop in this category (gaming laptops) and this was the only one (Alienware) that I did not try. The reason I didn't try was because of all the not-so-great reviews and how the cons were just simply not 'acceptable' for 2024. After much trial and tribulation, I figured I had nothing left to lose except to not try this brand. Well low and behold! This laptop was PERFECT for me! I wanted a portable AND capable Beast and this fit the bill PERFECTLY! It maybe a little chunky for people who don't eat meat or work out, but for me it was a very acceptable compromise for what I was looking for in a laptop (a consistent gaming experience whether at home or abroad). It plays all my games at max settings without any problems at all. Others I've had always ended up throttling themselves (despite being 'higher spec'd' than this one) and either stuttered or over-heated to the point it would lock up or shut down. This laptop might get a little 'loud' but it never over heats, never shuts down, and to my surprise, never throttled, not even once. I bought a laptop backpack for this laptop here in Amazon (just look up backpacks for 18.4" laptops). It works PERFECTLY for my needs. Tech Support is practically built right into this machine too. Most questions I had about anything was easily found with the included software packages. I have no regrets with this purchase and can easily recommend this to people who want a great laptop and a Beast without all the marketing and fluff (and failures) of the other 'Top Tier' or 'Higher Spec'd' laptops out there (looking at you ASUS and LENOVO). Oh wait, I do have one regret, and it's that I didn't get this sooner and let my own bias and the bias of other laptop 'Professional Reviewers' sway me away from this brand early on during my searches for the PERFECT laptop for ME.

1.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE READ THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS BEFORE PURCHASE - I REGRET IT...

UPDATE 7/11/2025Well I didnt think it could get much worse. After LOTS of back and forth - Dell suggested they cover labor and I cover parts. I agreed while still maintaining the images they sent me were NOT of my laptop. I paid $200 plus to cover repairs. Then had to wait additional weeks to get the machine back because a part was on back order. When I got the machine back the packing slip showed they replaced the LCD and the palm rest. I started it up - the screen flickered a few times - then the ALIENWARE logo wouldn't come on when booted. Sighs - I reached out to Dell again explaining the NEW problems and sent them a video of my actual machine demonstrating the NEW problems and pointing out how the machine in the photos they sent was not the same machine as mine- they agreed to send someone to replace the motherboard and LCD again. At that time I was told the differences in the photos were because a part on my laptop was missing - nope not true just a cover - because later pointed out 5 differences between my machine the machine in the photos. The kind tech came to my house did his job - left my house - and guess what now NVIDIA driver doesnt work at all - no video card works no sound card - its a gaming pc but im stuck using the intel processing because the NVIDIA drivers arent working.Lol I reach out to dell ADVANCED RESOLUTIONS mind you again - explaining the NEW problems and asking for a replacement. They refused to send a replacement but offered me a box to send the machine back to them....I told them I simply dont trust their Colorado Depot because they scammed me by sending fake photos and having me pay $200 for unnecessary repairs. I let them know they can send a NEW tech to my home to work out ALL of the machines problems - and requested a refund based on the fake images and unnecessary repairs.I also let them know if that was an unacceptable resolution - they should escalate this issue to their legal department - Im a practicing attorney - Ive been licensed in California for many years so if i have to sue - at least i wont have crazy legal fees.I'll provide another update.UPDATE- If I could give negative stars I would. After sending the device into customer service - no motherboard issue - instead they're claiming the LCD screen was cracked along with the palm rest and the back of laptop - consistent with a fall....ummm nope never dropped its super heavy and stays on a desk all day. Basically a scam - they want $350 to fix that stuff on a 6 month old laptop. I'm currently talking with customer service to see if someone DROPPED it upon after delivery - I cant possibly be responsible for damage during shipping as THEY PROVIDED SHIPPING LABEL and I'm assuming insurance. I regret purchasing the device and the customer service is HORRIBLE because NOTHING is wrong with the device they are making up issues to make money - AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID....READ THE REVIEWS - BELIEVE THE REPORTED ISSUES. I may have a motherboard issue after only a few months of use. I bought this laptop to play TWO games - both are web based and they worked perfectly for a while - then recently It stopped working on one of the games - and crashes IMMEDIATELY upon log in or shortly there after - I cant play the game on it at all. Ive updated game, cleared appdata, updated drivers, and even FACTORY RESET. NOT FIXED. Ive contacted the game - they cant find an issue on their end - I've contacted Microsoft - they cant find a problem - Ive contacted DELL they tried to help - I even paid the $99 for additional software support and after 3 hours they say I need to send it in bc its still w/in warranty. Im extremely disappointed because a friend TOLD ME NOT TO GET AN ALIENWARE LAPTOP but i didnt listen - hopefully sending it in fixes the issue or thats $3000 down the drain.
