3.0 out of 5 stars There is always room for improvement.

There is a lot to like about this laptop. It's impossibly light weight, the screen is super sharp, and the battery lasts a full workday. I think for how much money we're dealing with here, it's more important to say what I don't like about it.1. I spent a half hour finding and removing all the AI nonsense and knocked off a star just for that. It should be a optional install or a very simple one click opt out. This is not a toy computer.2. The display might be 17" but the bezels are so thin, the chassis dimensions are more of a standard 15" laptop with a number pad shoehorned in. It looks good in pictures and on paper, but that causes problems when typing more than a couple minutes. My hands and shoulders are pointed to the left side of the screen, so I have to turn my head a few degrees to the right in order to see what I'm typing. The ergonomics are not very good. I got around this by moving programs to the left side of the screen and keeping stuff I don't need to look at often to the right side. The number pad should be removed.3. The track pad is centered to the palm rest to look more visually appealing... but it's completely wrong in relation to the keyboard. When typing normally, my entire right hand is resting over the track pad. I'm constantly tapping the corner and moving the mouse cursor around. I lowered the touch sensitivity in settings but it still does it. The track pad should be centered to the space bar.TL;DR I'm quite peeved at the keyboard and track pad layout.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the price?
By Chagrined
Over the past 45 years, my previous computers have been Ohio Scientific, Atari 800, Apple IIGS, and several PCs including HP, Lenovo, and Dell. Of three computers bought about 4 years ago, both a Dell desktop, then an HP laptop were my first computers to actually break, even though they were working well at the time. When I looked at Consumer Reports laptop ratings, I found that in the PC category of owners reports, LG was the most highly reliable brand. Having suffered 2 recent broken computers, I decided to try a much higher priced LG gram Pro16" laptop. It is still too new to say anything about reliability, but its light weight and thin profile are amazing. It was very easy to set up and become part of my small home network. The screen graphics are very impressive, compared with my other computers, being bright and sharp, with brilliant colors. The speed is as good or better than my current desktop 'workhorse'. It has been a pleasure to operate so far. Battery life is excellent, yet it recharges quickly. I participate in some video conferencing and the picture quality is far better than my previous computers. Sound is also very adequate, though I haven't listened to music with it yet. Due to the thin profile, the keyboard is relatively flat, but the large key size makes it easy to type. I shopped around and found a relatively good price on Amazon that turned out to be $100 less than later "black Friday" prices on it, although considerably higher than Dell or HP deals on similarly equipped laptops. I haven't made much use of the included AI features, as I've noticed a couple of bad errors by AI in some browser search summaries, that may be due to other AI than my computer's. If this laptop continues to perform and doesn't break in a few years, I'd say my money was well spent.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the battery life of 25.5 hours translate to real-world use?
The 25.5-hour claim is based on a specific lab test for video playback with brightness at 150 nits and Wi-Fi off. Actual battery life will vary and be shorter under typical use with varying screen brightness, active wireless connections, and running multiple applications.
What does the 'military-grade' durability testing mean for everyday use?
The laptop has passed 7 specific MIL-STD 810H tests for factors like low pressure, high and low temperature, and vibration. This indicates a design resilient to environmental stresses, but it is not a guarantee of performance in all conditions and does not make the device shockproof or waterproof.
What is the difference between the on-device and cloud AI features?
The hybrid AI uses 'gram chat On-Device' for local tasks like searching your hard drive or adjusting system settings. 'gram chat Cloud' provides generative AI for creating documents or analyzing data, but requires an internet connection and is a free service only for the first year after registration.
What are the practical benefits of the Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on this display?
The 17-inch screen can adjust its refresh rate from 31Hz to 144Hz. This reduces screen tearing and stutter during gaming or video playback for smoother visuals, and can lower the refresh rate during static tasks to save battery power.
How does the Intel Evo Edition certification relate to this specific configuration?
The Intel Evo Edition signifies this laptop meets a set of performance standards set by Intel, which for this model includes the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, Intel Arc graphics, a fast-charging 90Wh battery, and features like instant wake and consistent responsiveness.
