1.0 out of 5 stars Bricked after 3 months. Can't even reinstall the OS.
By Joseph Giordano
First off, this laptop was shipped from the UAE so Lenovo's US tech support won't even touch it. They will just keep referring you to the UAE support. After submitting service tickets with their UAE tech branch and several escalations they recommended sending in the laptop for depot repair and attempted to create a repair service case...in the US. Lenovo US support emailed me and said they can't handle my repair case and told me to contact their UAE tech branch, cue that creepy "Valley of the Dolls" song. Here was the issue as I related it in my service tickets:I had been using this laptop for about 3 months, when I noticed a new account on my computer that I had not created called "WsiAccount". I tried to enter my pin for my account. I received a message saying no pin existed. It then switched to a blue screen error code 0xc0000428. I restarted the computer and received blue screen error code 0xc0000221. I entered the windows recovery environment and selected automatic repair. I then received another blue screen error code 0xc0000017. I then used the wre to select command prompt and entered commands to repair the boot drive. I restarted the laptop and received blue screen error code 0xc0000098. I downloaded Windows 11 iso on a flash drive and selected Repair my PC on the Windows installation menu. During the repair windows attempted to restart and I received blue screen error code 0xc0000001. I attempted the install again and selected install delete everything, it tried to restart at 12% and went to a black screen critical error.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of performance can I expect from the Intel Celeron N4500 processor?
The Intel Celeron N4500 is a dual-core processor with a base speed of 1.1 GHz that can boost up to 2.8 GHz. It is designed for basic computing tasks like web browsing, document editing, and video streaming, but is not suited for demanding applications or intensive multitasking.
Does the USB-C port support video output or charging?
No, the USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port on this laptop supports data transfer only. It does not support video output or power delivery for charging the device. You must use the dedicated round-tip power connector for charging.
What is the quality of the webcam and does it have privacy features?
The laptop is equipped with an HD 720p camera. It includes a physical privacy shutter that you can manually close to block the lens, preventing unauthorized viewing when the camera is not in use.
Is the 16GB of RAM upgradeable or soldered onto the motherboard?
The RAM is listed as 16 GB SO-DIMM, which indicates it uses a standard, removable memory module. This typically means the RAM is user-upgradeable, unlike soldered memory found in some thinner laptops.
What type of display panel does this laptop have, and how bright is it?
It uses a 15.6-inch Full HD (1920x1080) TN panel with an anti-glare coating. The display has a peak brightness of 250 nits, which is adequate for indoor use but may be difficult to see in very bright environments.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
