Frequently Asked Questions

What type of storage does this laptop have, and how does it compare to a traditional SSD?
This laptop uses 128GB eMMC storage. eMMC is a type of flash storage that is soldered directly to the motherboard. It is generally slower and less upgradeable than a traditional SATA or NVMe SSD, but it is a cost-effective solution for basic tasks.
The specs list both LPDDR5 and DDR4 SDRAM for RAM. Which one is correct?
The 'specs' section lists LPDDR5, while the detailed 'product_details' section lists DDR4 SDRAM. This is a discrepancy in the provided data. You should confirm the exact RAM type with the seller or manufacturer, as it is a key performance specification.
What does 'Windows 11 S' mode mean for this laptop?
Windows 11 S is a secure, streamlined version of Windows that only allows you to install apps from the official Microsoft Store. This can improve performance and battery life but limits software options. You can typically switch out of S mode to a full Windows 11 Home edition for free, but the process is one-way and cannot be reversed.
Is the 12-month Microsoft 365 subscription a trial, and what happens after it ends?
The included 12-month Microsoft 365 subscription is a full, complimentary license, not a trial. After the 12 months expire, you will need to purchase a new subscription to continue using premium features like the full Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with cloud services and updates; otherwise, the apps will revert to limited, read-only functionality.
What is the actual screen resolution and quality of the display?
The screen has an HD resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels on its 14-inch panel. This is a standard definition for budget laptops, not Full HD (1920x1080). The 'Max Screen Resolution' listed as 1920x1080 in the product details refers to the maximum signal the hardware can support via an external monitor, not the laptop's built-in display.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
