5.0 out of 5 stars Great budget laptop
By Suzanne
Got this as a replacement for my previous laptop which was less than a year old before it got damaged. I mostly use my computer for audio editing, web surfing and non-strenuous gaming. This one is great for the price - boots up fast, runs programs smoothly, and has a fingerprint scanner for quick log in. Comes with Windows 11 which has been fine so far. The backlight keyboard is really helpful in low light. I only use bluetooth headphones so I haven’t tested the speakers, but connection is fast and consistent. I did have some audio issues while using Audacity but that ironed out after a few weeks. Don’t expect it to handle high end graphics with these specs, but I don’t really care about fantastic performance for my games so it’s not an issue. If the most intensive thing you run is a few hours of Sims, this’ll be perfect for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid machine if you can get past battery life and sound quality.
By Joe DeMartini
I got this about a month ago for combination work and gaming. I run a dual-partition Windows/Linux and do most of my work on the Linux side (scientific code development and testing) and gaming/writing/editing on the Windows side. The laptop runs well, but not any faster than the last-gen hardware I'm used to; for high-performance, CPU-parallelized code, it's about the same as my old Gigabyte Aero from 2018. The graphics card, however, is solid, and the 4070 should hold up well even against the new 50XX series GPUs that have recently released, and the speedup over the 30XX series is cards is noticeable. The multiple, expandable SDU memory slots are convenient for partitioning, and it's hard to see needing more than 1-2 TB of storage on a personal machine, so this checks all the boxes for my needs.Battery life is mediocre. It drains pretty quicker than I'd like (4-6 hrs) when I'm developing/testing code on the Linux side if I'm not plugged in. The windows side is worse, but I'm mostly gaming there and there's more bloat, so that's expected. I've not tried the USB-C lightning charging, but I wouldn't expect that to change the battery's capacity in any meaningful way.My main complaint is in the sound quality, which is sub-par. If you're using headphones all of the time then it's no issue, but the sound quality from the speakers is really rough. The sound is tinny, quiet, and sometimes muffled.Last thing I'll say is that I like the size. 16" is a great middle-ground between the 15" models that I find too small to game on (and often miss some features, e.g., a Num pad), and the 17" models which can be a little large to tote around between work and home, or on travel. This thing has some heft, at ~10 lbs, but it fits well in a bag/briefcase/carry-on, and feels sturdy.Overall, I'd recommend it if you're thinking about getting it. It's not your best gaming machine, nor is it your best work setup, but I think it splits the difference pretty well as an all-rounder.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
