4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to beat for the price, but some things are odd.

Its hard to tell these days on the internet what is real and whats not. Especially reviews (Ive even been asked to fake a review on a project for a friend. I said no, because wtf dude). So I had to at least chime in on this laptop.I got the 16gb with N150 for a steal of a price at $269, and I see its now gone up. I was very skeptical because the price, the image showed AOC branding but the seller is Kaigerr and their other listings show their brand on laptops, and Ive never heard of this brand before. I recognize AOC as a budget brand from a monitor I bought over a decade ago, so I took a chance and was happy to at least receive an AOC branded laptop. It comes with W11 Pro but it seems to be a modified version of 24H2, which to me seems a bit sketchy but also I didnt want the full blown latest version and all its bugs. I plan to keep W11 on this device as a fall back for specific offline work programs and never want to connect if I dont have to so that Microsoft doesnt force an update or whatever the case may be. Anyway, it didnt require going online to set up, so I finished the set up wizard happily and was satisfied to see there appears to be no extra bloatware either. Though take note, there was something called SmartKeyApp installed. I dont recognize this and Ive been off of windows for almost 2 years, dont remember it from my time with Windows. It doesnt show up in Apps or in Programs and Features, so I had to go into Program Files x86 to find the folder and uninstall. Like I said, some sketchiness so be aware. I plan to keep at least Windows offline forever on this laptop, but if youre smarter than I am about IT and tech, it might be a good idea to dig a little deeper. For my purposes, I dont think Ill need to go much further.Anyway, I installed Linux and everything seems to be working great. Its not the most well built laptop, which is to be expected at this price. That being said, it performs great and looks great for what it is. Really good deal at $269, so Im satisfied. If anything strange happens, Ill circle back and update.

Looks good, works for what I needed it for. No issues so far. Worth the deal on it. Perfect size, not too heavy. My last computer runs on windows vista, this is a big upgrade.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
