5.0 out of 5 stars Budget powerhouse
By Jim
Great value, for $300 you're getting a 10 core i5, 8gb of Ram and a 256gb nvme SSD. This should be good enough for work or school, lighter video editing and most things you'd plan to throw at a low-mid range laptop.Ram and SSD look to be pretty easily upgradable from what I've seen online if you need a little more. Screen quality is average, colors are fine but viewing angles are a little meh, keyboard feels decent enough but there's the usual flex you'd expect from a plastic body laptop. It's got 2 USB type A, 1 USB type C, HDMI out, headphone jack and an SD card reader which was a nice bonus. This is a renewed/refurbished model, so don't expect it to come in retail packaging, but it did come double boxed in a nice bubble sleeve. Only flaw I could find is a small nick on the outer edge of the top of the PC, just cosmetic.Everything seems to be 100% functional and aside from the nick it looks brand new. I'd recommend deleting all the HP bloatwear to free up some space. If you want the best budget laptop you can get, I don't think you can do much better than this. Only thing comparable that I had found was an Asus with the same specs from Walmart. This is fast and capable and should be pretty reliable as well. Can't comment on battery life just yet but seems decent.

5.0 out of 5 stars does not have usb lightning capability
By Dooki
thin, cpu speed fast, wish it had usb lightning capability. HDMI and power cable needed for charging and monitor hook up. if it had usb lightning, one cable would do it all. :(

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
