3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons
By Disposer
This is a low-cost, minimal features and speed computer good for average home and student use. PRO: Windows 11 Pro (which might be considered a CON by users who don't need the extra bells and whistles of Win11 Pro). PRO, 2 USB ports, one USB 2, one USB 3 (Hi Speed) CON: keyboard is not backlit, a feature of the HP this computer replaced. PRO: separate numeric keyboard. CON: no LED light showing the numeric keyboard is active. Since the keyboard doubles as up,down, home, etc. keys when the numlock is not active, it's a constant irritation to not know the state of the keyboard. CON: the keyboard layout is odd, no separate on/off switch away from the keyboard, it's just another keyboard key, good luck finding it when you first unpack this machine. The delete key is located next to this on/off key not at the right upper end of the keyboard as in most layouts.Bottom line, its a decent laptop which, based on experience with other HP laptops, will probably last a couple of years until repairs become more expensive that machine value. If you're willing to put up with the quirks, I just mentioned then buy it.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
