4.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A BIG LAPTOP
By STANLEY STARR
I was sort of forced to get the laptop because my desktop pc goes back to 2013 and wasn't eligible to get the windows 11 update. At 84 I did not want to carry this big baby to the pc store to upgrade yet. At first when I started looking on Amazon, I saw only one vendor selling all the units. And his reviews were mixed. Finally saw a different seller and bit the bullet. Package came with everything and once unpacked, I started to put everything together. I had a 7 port dock and used that for the mouse dongle and the 500gb external drive. The big deal was when the setup begins. I am not used to a laptop keyboard so it took a little time to get everything going. I really wanted to move apps from the desktop to the laptop but at first I did not see the computer in the network screen. Do go to settings and open network sharing. Everything these days is security so you have to have the names and passwords ready. It took a day of trying combinations till I got the the computer name and password in order for the laptop to see the desktop. Then it was just looking to the apps and copying and pasting. I will say that I definitely do not like the win 11 layout. being used to the somewhat neatness of win 10 this was a mess to look at. Wanted to use firefox as the browser, but it crashes al the time. MS almost forces you to use their products-- edge- which i am not crazy about. Other than that, it will take some time to get used to and to get the laptop to work like my desktop. One program you should have is Belarc Advisor. It gives you an inventory of everthing on your computer.EDIT 12/9/2025Now that I have had time to play with this unit I came across some glitches. one was that the cheapo BT4 mouse was giving me a hard time even after charging it every nite. Today I finally gave up when it stopped moving and plugged in my wired Kensington orbit. The other problem is the num lock button does not light up. I don't know if that is the way it is on this laptop or something is wrong with connection. Also, as another reviewer stated, the sound volume is not very loud even at the 100% level. I loved the old Realtek setup on my desktop. All you have here is a volume control. And now I will say for sure that I am not a fan of windows 11. Microsoft had a nice interface with win 10. The start screen was neat abd apps were bunched the way you liked . When companies only think about the dollars, they mess up a good thing.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pay close attention to fine print.
By Johnny Powers
Quality of computer is excellent. Pay close attention to the fine print in description. I was expecting to receive MS Office 2024 Lifetime but was not included with the used computer purchase. This computer should not have been posted as a buy used and save. When it is not the same package.

great laptop for the price. The 16GB RAM and 512GB ssd provide smooth performance and the 180° hinge is a nice touch. Windows 11 runs well, and the sleek Silver Gray design looks premium. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rocky setup, but end result was worth it

The media could not be loaded. When I first booted this laptop up, it presented me with a "defaultuser0" account that I didn't know the password to. I completely wiped this laptop's SSD and reinstalled Windows to play it safe, and after that it worked like a charm with regular setup. I did have to find drivers online for the touchpad afterward though.Getting at the SSD to do all of this was thankfully pretty easy, since the bottom panel was removable with a few tiny screws. I noticed that there is only a single slot for RAM in there, but it isn't soldered on so I was able to upgrade it with a 16 gig stick at least. The N97 is no gaming powerhouse but it plays some older titles still, and the laptop works great for work like emails and browsing the internet.
