I had bought as new. When I got it it had to reset windows when i first opened it which i though was werid since that means its not an out of box setup. My suspicions were correct when it had many different Kernel level BSOD. Tired many diagnostics to fix and uptimately tried cleanly reinstalling windows again, only for it to run into service exception errors constantly. Very disappointed how buying as new they delivered a (clearly referbished) laptop. Didnt even offer an exchage and had to return this corrupt laptop and rebuy a new one. Not a bad laptop when it doesnt come as a refurbished (advertised as new) lemon.

Bought this laptop as a present for teenager who wanted a gaming laptop. The seller does open the package to install an upgrade and the package arrived as promised. The laptop is usual HP quality and it's performance after a month of solid use has been very good. The display is very good for the price-point. The processor and graphics card will slightly bog down with VERY heavy pull from intensive games, but this isn't a high performance set up. If you want that level of performance, you need to move up to the next level of system. This is for newbs and it does well for them.
