5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING - once you reinstall Windows ;)
By O_O
I want to write a more in depth review but I'm afraid I'll never find the time so I just wanted to reiterate what others have been saying - you MUST reinstall Windows 10 fresh to get the best performance from this machine, hell, just to make it useable! Out of the box, the whole machine felt surprising slow overall and games were stuttering pretty badly e.g. full screen freeze for like a full 1 second every minute or two while the "AI" decided to make some dumb tweak. The "AI" feature is a complete joke! And the gigabyte control center is confusing as heck to say the least.Just reinstall Windows and then there's no need to manually install ANY software from Gigabyte. Windows 10 will install almost all the drivers you need automatically. The only things I manually installed nVidia (to get GF Experience) and "Intel Driver and Support Assistant".The only other thing I had to do was turn off "Advanced Stream Detect" in the "Killer Control Center" which is your wifi. For some reason this feature defaults to ON and it will break your internet VERY VERY BADLY. It took me a few hours to figure this out so hopefully someone sees this and it saves you that headache! Maybe if you install that software manually it's not set up like that but that's the only thing I had to do get the machine working great after a fresh install!Only thing I'm losing out on by not having GB software installed is the keyboard lights, but I mainly use my laptop as a desktop at home so it's not a huge deal to me. I would like to have that feature but I'll settle for losing it in exchange for no bloat. After fresh Windows install, games are INSANE! This beast absolutely flies and I could not be happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great laptop, but some weird software
By Amazon Customer
I got this laptop for work and to play games while I travel, and it's awesome! It looks and feels like a professional's machine, not a gamer's toy, so it fits into any kind of working environment. Aluminum chassis, sleek black design, no excessive RGB lighting. It has a lot of useful ports and little need for dongles. The two USB-Cs were a nice touch. One of them will fast-charge my cellphone, which is a huge plus for me when on the go.The POWER of this machine is awesome. Even though its light and small, it can run VR games at full FPS, supports raytracing, and can run Unity, Slack, Visual Studio, 24 VNC clients and compile video at the same time. Can't believe this thing's got an i9 AND an RTX 2070 for under $2k. Be wary though: when this thing gets going, it gets HOT. You can't do real work / gaming on your lap, and I nearly burned myself touching the underside when I needed to move it.I haven't really tested the battery that well, but I did manage to do some off-and-on video editing / web browsing for about 4-5 hours before needing to charge. But as you should know, that kind of battery life is not going to last for long. The only problems I've had, other than its hot-to-the-touch underside, is the pre-installed software. As a tech pro, I'm okay with handling some of the hiccups, but others might have problems. First, the "A.I." it has installed is handy at times, an annoyance at others. You can read about it elsewhere, but my two cents: It's really cool how it handles power regulation for different apps so you don't have to. I was also pleasantly surprised when it changed my keyboard lighting based on what game I was playing, all automatically. However, the program is a bit CPU intensive, and it will override settings that you don't want it to touch, so you'll have to configure it accordingly; however, I usually just turn it off 100% to avoid fiddling with settings and to get some CPU utilization back. Most of the pre-installed software is just no use to me at all, and usually just cause annoyances. These can be easily uninstalled, but if you like a crystal clean machine upon purchase so you don't have to do anything (which doesn't really exist for current PC's anyway), you're gonna have a bad time. Also the camera is bad, but pretty on-par as far as laptop PC cameras go. I never use it, so it's fine for me.BOTTOM LINE: if you're thinking about getting a Razor Blade or an Alienware m15, seriously consider getting this. It has power, professional looks, and a small form factor for under $2,000.

4.0 out of 5 stars Review is for 18..5 inch model; not 15.7; good value for 18.5 model

I purchased two 18.5 inch model AX18, and it looks like my review is tied to a 15.6 inch model instead, as though perhaps I purchased two at a lower price point than intended? The value was outstanding for $400..00. My review is for the 18.5 inch model which is 11 x 17 by about 1 inches in total size. The huge trackpad gets in the way a bit, but it does work and is sensitive. It can be disabled. The very large screen is beautiful and true to color, and great for movies, albeit with weak and tinny speakers. The camera is really grainy, you will use your Logitec one that is much better in low light. The case is kind of twisty plastic, and keyboard has a kind of flimsy feel to it. However, it functions just fine.It is really quite fast. I am playing around with typical office apps, big spreadsheets and so far looks great. I will eventually attempt image and video editing. hoping this keeps up. A slightly rickety, fast, wonderful display old fashioned computer. I do find myself absently touching the screen as I’ve been so “touch screen” for the past few months, and no this is not a touch screen laptop. The power supply and plug are annoyingly “non standard”. 19V 2.1a output, the sorta cheapie 57 inch power cord and odd connector are a bit worrisome.
