5.0 out of 5 stars Bro imma keep it real, this RTX 2060 is so good
By S M
I can max out (so far) Dying Light, L4D2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, Fallout 4... Bro fr I'm not gonna be like "Oh blah blah blah battery life this, I don't like that" na, this is legitimately a solid machine that will keep up with what's thrown at it. The RTX 2060 is surely something you want to be a part of. I've been living on low graphics since 2013, settling for the 15-25 FPS and people usually talk trash about Alienware brand for whatever reasons. Also, people are rambling about heat comfort and build quality; na, they're are assiduously looking for "cons" so their "review" looks more credible like lol wtf ? The only problem I have with this laptop is that I can't stop downloading all the Steam games I was never able to max out or EVEN play.I'm coming from a Macbook Pro 2016 and the performance difference is night and day. Make sure you go to the Alienware Command Center thing/app and turn on "Performance Mode", while plugged into a power source if you want the (90%) of what the laptop can do. Thanks for reading, peace out and have fun

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I ponied up for it.
By Shepherd
I've had this laptop for two months now and I can honestly say that it's worth the money. There are, however, a few things to note that will need to be addressed if you want to use it for very much serious work.Firstly, this laptop comes with an M.2 harddrive, which is very good, but it's only 512mb. An additional harddrive is almost necessary and, although it does come with a second slot, I opted for an external 4TB SSD. That basically solves storage issues for a good while.Secondly, This only comes with a single 8GB RAM card but does have a second slot. I haven't added another card yet but I have seen instances where it would improve performance. This laptop is currently my workhorse and downtime toy. I've seen very few hiccups using it for music production, recording, live sound and gaming. Once you address the underwhelming storage issue you can work pretty well with it but a RAM upgrade should be in your future as well. Games these days not only have 80+GB download files but pull considerable amounts of RAM, as do DAWs.Overall, this is a fantastic little beast for the money and with just a few minor upgrades it can do everything short of engineering 3D models. I'm certainly glad that I bought this for my work and play!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the refresh rate of the display and what does that mean for gaming?
The 15.6-inch FHD display has a 144Hz refresh rate. This means the screen can update its image up to 144 times per second, which results in smoother motion and reduced visual tearing during fast-paced games compared to standard 60Hz displays.
How many cores does the Intel Core i7-8750H processor have and what is its maximum speed?
The 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H is a 6-core processor. Its base clock speed is 2.2 GHz, and it can boost up to 4.1 GHz using Intel Turbo Boost technology when demanding tasks require extra performance.
Is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card suitable for modern gaming?
Yes, the dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with 6GB of GDDR5 VRAM is a capable mid-range gaming GPU. It supports real-time ray tracing and is designed to handle modern games at the laptop's 1920x1080 resolution with high settings.
What type of storage does this laptop use and how much is included?
This configuration includes a 512GB PCIe M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD). This type of storage is significantly faster than a traditional hard drive, resulting in quicker system boot times, faster game loading, and snappier overall system responsiveness.
What is the weight and battery capacity of this Alienware m15 model?
The laptop weighs 4.8 pounds and is equipped with a 4-cell, 60Wh battery. This makes it relatively portable for a gaming laptop, though battery life during gaming will be limited due to the high-performance components; it's best used plugged in for extended gaming sessions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Runs my Sims perfectly!

This computer is amazing. Definitely worth it. This is the first real gaming laptop I’ve had and it makes a huge difference. Zero lag on my sims and I have almost all the add ons. I played the sims for like 3 hours straight and it barely got warm. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great gaming laptop

Excellent laptop. Runs much quieter and cooler then my Helios. Very fast. Works well for what I use it for mainly World of Warcraft but handles other games quite well. Very pleased with this purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's good, but it could be better

I've been using this computer for a while now, it works very well, but there are times when it stutters, the FPS drops to 0, which usually takes less than 1 second, but it's still very annoying. The screen's 165Hz refresh rate is spectacular, but I did an online test and I'm almost certain it has ghosting, which is also quite annoying. Also it's a bit slow when performing various tasks, such as opening the browser or simply changing categories on Steam.I'm going to add more RAM since the 8GB it has doesn't seem enough to me; I even think that might be the root of the problem I mentioned. So, I'll try to upgrade to 32GB of RAM.But despite all of the above, it's still a very good computer. I like that it comes with the Nitro Sense application and also with Intel's graphics software, since it allows for some customization. The camera looks good and works smoothly in good lighting, but the computer doesn't have anything to cover the camera. You have 3 fan options: silent, balanced, and performance. Expect a lot of noise from the fan in performance mode. Also, another bad thing is that when I connected my headphones with a built-in microphone, the computer only recognized it as audio output, not as both audio input and output, so I had a lot of problems with that. I even had to restart my PC in safe mode to reset everything because I had no sound anymore, so be careful with that, If you experience the same issue, simply open the Realtek Audio Console application, then go to advanced device settings and program it as an input and output. So I think it's a very good computer. You have to do a couple of things beforehand to be ready to use it for gaming or anything like that, but I don't think I'll be changing it for a long time. Just add more RAM and you'll probably be good to go. I'll update this review when I add more RAM to let you know if there are any changes to the stuttering. So my final thoughts on this laptop are that I wish it were more of a turn-on, ready-to-use thing, but I guess you can't expect that at this price. Despite that, I give it 5 stars

5.0 out of 5 stars Best deal on a gaming laptop

Performance: This thing eases through all the games you practically throw at it UNLESS you want highest quality on the LATEST AAA game. You also get frame generation with the nice gpu inside there(4050).Quality, Speed, Brightness: The quality of a laptop at this price point is not something you find everyday, I also love the glossy look on the front panel. The brightness is really really high so no issues here. The speed , well you really need to upgrade this thing to 16gb for 100% usage. It’s absolutely worth it to do it yourself, you will feel incredible for the amount of money you save. Just buy another DDR5 8gb 5200MHZ and install it and you are set for everything really.Issues: Not so much of big issues, just new computer stuff like Driver issues where a usb might bug or something similar. Just update the laptop as soon as you get it.Battery: battery on a gaming laptop has never been good so always carry your charger. All in all, good investment for your gaming hobbies. Just install your ram and carry your charger when moving.
