1.0 out of 5 stars Never buy Dell or Alienware - refuse to give part number to replace a broken key
By Fade Lore
This is just evil. I had issues with my first alienware (another story) - but I thought it was a one-off and I preferred the name since back in the day (before bought by Dell) it was supposed to be a great laptop. So on this model, which aside from running too hot, it's been decent however, because of the heat one of the keys seems to have broken. (I feel the most heat from the spot over that key). It should be an easy thing to replace the key and the hinge. There are sites that make it easy to replace a key for a couple dollars. But this model does not show up. So I contact Dell to get the correct SKU to make sure I purchase the right part, and they say they don't have it.. nor will they direct me to someone who does. They say I need to replace the whole keyboard...for much much more money. I tried to explain to them that some company made the keyboard out of various parts and that company would have the information - but they would not help me.This is insane to hold me hostage over a $2 part. The parts are out there somewhere, but they won't help me find them. So much for customer service. I've purchased many Dell computers in my life, but never again. I highly recommend against their products. My other alienware is bricked because of a similar issue that would be a simple fix if they even cared about customer service. If you buy form them, you'll like it at first - but when something goes wrong in a couple years, you'll be stuck - trust me, stay away.

5.0 out of 5 stars High quality Laptop
By RCsRibboy
While I have not really put this computer to the test, it appears to be very high quality and handles every simple PC game that I've thrown at it. Most of my games do not take a lot of processing power and this laptop is likely much more than I'll ever need, I wanted excess power in reserve and this appears to be a strong resource. The video card is the same one that my grandson has in his high priced VR set up that he custom built so I feel good about that.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the actual screen size and refresh rate? The title says 18" 300Hz, but the technical specs list a 16" 240Hz display.
The technical specifications confirm the display is a 16.0" QHD+ (2560 x 1600) panel with a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, and G-SYNC support. The 18" 300Hz mention in the title appears to be an error.
Is the RAM and storage user-upgradeable, and what is installed by default?
Yes, both memory and storage are expandable. This specific configuration comes with 64GB of DDR5 6400MT/s RAM (occupying two slots) and a 4TB NVMe PCIe Gen4 SSD. The system supports up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of total SSD storage.
What specific ports are available for connectivity?
The laptop includes 3x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 2x Thunderbolt 5 ports (connected to the RTX 5080 GPU), 1x HDMI 2.1 port, 1x SD card reader, and a headset jack on the left side.
Does the keyboard have mechanical switches?
The included keyboard features per-key AlienFX RGB lighting. The marketing copy mentions optional CherryMX mechanical switches, but this specific configuration's technical specs do not confirm their inclusion, listing it as a 'Backlit Keyboard'.
What is the weight and thickness of this laptop, including the power adapter?
The laptop chassis itself weighs 7.49 pounds, with a thickness ranging from 0.85 to 1.12 inches. The included 360W power adapter adds an additional 2.20 pounds to the total travel weight.
