Picked up this Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 for my son and me, mainly for Steam gaming and some light content creation, and overall it delivers excellent performance for the price. The OLED 16" 240Hz screen is the star here – colors pop, blacks are deep, and games and movies look fantastic at 2.5K resolution.​Gaming performance is very strong. With the Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070 Ti, my son plays demanding Steam titles like BeamNG.drive at max settings and is extremely happy with how smooth and responsive everything feels. For GPU-heavy tasks, this laptop absolutely flies, so if you want something that can handle modern AAA games and future titles, this has plenty of headroom.​​There are some trade-offs. Windows Hello face recognition is not very reliable on this unit – it works sometimes, but it’s not as seamless as it should be, so I often fall back to PIN or password. Under GPU‑intensive loads, the laptop gets hot and the fans become quite loud, which is expected for a thin, powerful gaming machine but still noticeable if you’re sensitive to noise. Battery life is typical gaming‑laptop level, so plan to use it plugged in for heavy work or long gaming sessions.​​One annoying issue is Wi‑Fi stability when editing videos in Clipchamp – the app frequently shows connectivity problems even though other devices on the same network are fine. This seems related to the Wi‑Fi card/driver that Acer uses in this series, and other users have reported random disconnections and needing driver updates or resets to fix it. It’s not a deal‑breaker, but something to be aware of if you rely on cloud‑based editors or constant uploads.​Overall, if you want a powerful 16" gaming laptop with an incredible OLED display and top‑tier GPU performance, this Helios Neo 16 is a great choice. Just be ready for fan noise and heat under load, occasional quirks like imperfect Windows Hello, and possible Wi‑Fi hiccups with some apps.
