5.0 out of 5 stars Capable Laptop in a Netbook Shell
By ZMOBtiger
This netbook is the best value on the market at this time. Other netbooks that have the n550 come with W7 Starter and 1 GB of ram and cost $300+. If someone is going to change anything on their netbook, they are most likely going to upgrade the ram to 2 GB and upgrade Starter to W7 Home Premium. These upgrades cost $100+ as well as your time and energy. That brings the total cost of other netbooks over $400. This computer comes stock with 2 GB of ram and 64-bit W7 Home Premium and is less than $400 ($358 at the time)! You cannot find a better deal. This computer boots up from powered off in less than a minute and wakes up from sleep mode in 5 seconds or less. The advertised run time is 8 hours and I have actually found this to be achievable! If you are running lots of programs, it won't be, but if you are just surfing the internet and working in Word then you will experience great battery life. The screen has a nice matte finish so it doesn't have reflection issues. The side viewing angles though are not very good, but it isn't like you and your friends are going to be huddled around the computer trying to watch a movie. You are probably going to hook it up to a TV for that which you can do as long as the TV has a VGA (PC) cable connection. I hooked it up to my 55" Samsung LED TV and played an 720p movie. After fiddling with the aspect ratio a little bit it looked great! The film didn't skip at all. The keyboard is good for a netbook I think. It will take a little while to get used to the smaller layout, but it is sturdy and gives you plenty of feedback. I think the trackpad is excellent for a netbook. It is plenty wide and picks up on your fingers movements pretty well. The multi-gesture controls work well for zooming and scrolling. It is a very solid experience for the user. If this computer came in black, I would probably by another one; I bought this one as a present for my girlfriend. I don't need another laptop, but it is just such a great little computer. If you are looking for a netbook, buy this one.Note: There is no HDMI port; there isn't a graphics chip capable of producing an HD picture so that's probably why they didn't put one in. Amazon should remove that from the product's description. I was a little upset that it didn't have one at first, but I can use the VGA port and an audio cable to hook it up to my tv. The rest of the netbook's features made up for it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Edited! Ran it through the paces and its a winner. Update 7 months!
By Shanti
I'm not new to pc's, laptops or netbooks after getting this netbook . I waited a month before placing a review so I could really work the pc and form a thorough opinion.Acer has a winner here. This netbook makes my desktop and laptop almost obsolete. The only thing that reminds you that this is still a netbook is that it cant run apps that require a processor 2GHz or higher. This netbook has a 1.5Ghz processor. The other reminder this is still a netbook is the video res. Some apps require a res higher than this netbook can do.Other than those two netbbook facts, you can easily forget this is a netbook.I used Gimp, Blender, and Inkscape with no problems. Runs those programs fine.Firefox4 fully loaded can tap out the processor but this little netbook quickly compensates with only a little flux for a few seconds then its back to browsing heaven. Chrome runs faster and flawless but I am a FF fan. If you want the faster browser, go with Chrome on this machine or one of the other less hoggish browsers. I am a FF fan so the sluggishness that it sometimes experiences isnt enough of an issue for me to change my preferred browser.I load FF heavy with addons so I create the slow down myself. A lighter loaded FF4 runs like a dream.YouTube videos run fine as well as netflix. There is sometimes a delay while the netbook buffers the video but thats to be expected since it is a netbook.I have used no other pc for the last month except this Acer netbook. I have ran her hard and she takes all I have dished out. I even run several Bigfish games on her and she manages surprisingly well. The keyboard is fine for me. I like its style and its quiet. The sound is useless, almost. The speakers just dont produce much at all. Its worse than an old Am radio sound. But, plug in external speakers or a headset or ear-buds and the sound rocks for this little netbook.I also use the Win7 built in speech recognition software. With headset/mic plugged in, perfect!!Battery life is fabulous! Running netflix movies suck the most juice so the battery last around 3 hours.Surfing the net, working in Open office, the battery life is 6-8 hours.Temperature. She runs cooler than my laptop. But hotter than my desktop. She averages 40-45C doing things like running my browser while typing this review. I also have Norton Suite 2011 running constantly along with some other constant running maintenance software. The hottest she goes on average, is 50-55C. Thats running heavy software such as graphic games. The wireless is easy. Found my network right away. The range beats both my desktop and laptop which both are higher end pc's and both have win7. Only this netbook stays online, 2-3 bars, at 100-150 ft from the router. My laptop only can go 25-35 feet away. My desktop also goes 25-30 feet.I also hooked up a LG external DVD/CD read/write drive and again, perfect operation. The needed 2 usb ports are perfectly placed together, side by side, on the left of this netbook leaving my mouse usb port to to right along with my headset/mic ports. So the ports are all positioned well around this netbook.Touchpad is good. Better than any one I have used on other laptops/netbooks. I never adapted well to touchpads but this one I managed fairly good. I still favor using a mouse but when its not convenient, switching over to the touchpad isnt a huge obstacle with its user friendly adjustments.I have used up 125Gigs of hard drive space with all my software and aps I have been throwing at this netbook. I cant complain about anything. It out-preforms itself. I expected a nice pc in a little package and got a great pc in a little package! The size and weight is the best. I have nook and kindle for pc on my netbook and no need for carrying around readers as having this little machine on my lap is no more a bother than having a lightweight textbook on my lap.Now I can do more than just read, I can do a lot of things all on one product thats easy to carry and hold. I spend most of my time with this gem on my lap sitting all comfy in my chair. No need for pc tables anymore. My laptop feels to big and heavy now to bother with. Acer's netbook has provided me with more convenience than any other machine. Thanks to this netbook, I have vowed to never bother with big machines again. I also never had an Acer before and now I can say, I have become an Acer fan.The price I paid was 350 on Amazon. I didnt have to upgrade anything since this netbook is already fully loaded with win7 home and 2 gigs ram. So the cost was perfect. I feel I got a bargain for what this machine can do.* This is a 7 month later update. I use my netbook daily. Its still as mint as the day I first received it. I have tweaked and changed so much its barely recognizable from factory settings and its never crashed or caused any issues. I have even loaded Linux for awhile for a dual boot system and no issues while running both OS and then switching back to only win7 boot. This little netbook is great. It looks perfect too. No fading of white lettering on the keyboard either, which seems to be an issue with all our other keyboards/pc's within 6 months. This is the only black keyboard I have had that after 6 months the letters look perfect with no paint fading away.I also have a large HD external flat screen monitor hooked up to this netbook to run both screens simultaneously, for home-school, and all is great!I also added high def external speakers with a mini sub-woofer and the sound is awesome.Another addition is a HP officejet printer.I have switched to a mini mouse via the usb port as the touch screen is just not as efficient. So after 7 months of daily use, lots of experimentation with software, lots of external addons, I still feel this netbook is an Ace!!! I couldnt be more pleased.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and Reliable!!

I recently bought the ACEMAGIC RX16 laptop and I’ve been really happy with it so far. It’s fast, super responsive, and handles everything I throw at it browsing, work tasks, and even gaming with no lag. As a gamer, I was surprised by how well it runs games, especially for a laptop with integrated graphics. The 16" screen is clear and vibrant, and the high refresh rate makes gameplay feel smooth. I also work in cybersecurity, and this laptop handles my tools, VMs, and scripts without any slowdown. The dual-fan cooling system does a great job keeping things cool during heavy use, and the backlit keyboard is a nice bonus for working at night. Overall, it's a solid choice for both performance and value, and I’d definitely recommend it for students, gamers, or professionals alike

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING ! ! !

So, in the past I have bought computers based more on price than features. I ended up with units that were 2 or more generations old before I opened the box. This time I bought based on specs first and price second. WOW !Incredibly fast to both retrieve and process data. (I don't do on-line games . . .) Wire sharp, photographic quality display. Lighted keys. O.k., it's missing a fingerprint reader. Boo Hoo ! Great specs, great speed and a pretty good price. What's not to like?
