The Acer Nitro V 17 AI gaming laptop is a powerful, and generously sized notebook for a more serious gaming computer on the go. With strong performance in raytracing games like Cyberpunk 2077, which scores over 70 FPS in a DLSS+Raytracing enabled benchmark, to games like Fallout 4 and Starfield which score well over 100fps!SCREEN:The Acer Nitro V has a generous 17" LCD panel at 144hz, and 1920x1080 resolution. This IPS panel is a matte finish to help control reflections and looks great in games and productivity tasks alike. Although it is only 1080p, for gaming, this means the picture is sharp on screen and fast to respond to motion with minimal ghosting. As a result of the smaller rendering size, games perform excellent when combined with the powerful RTX 5070 8gb discreet graphics card and Ryzen 7 260 AI processor.BENCHMARKS:I took the time to benchmark the PC in a few ways - All benchmarks performed in TURBO mode (the fastest performance setting in Acer's Nitro management app) connected to the AC Adapter with the latest drivers installed.-3d Mark Steel Nomad scores a respectable 2,912 Marks-3d Mark Timespy scores an excellent 12,785 Marksand-CPU-Z Benchmark Shows Single Core Performance at 699.1 and Multicore at 6762.3Overall, the benchmark runs indicate extremely good performance for the money and offer an excellent 1080p gaming experience in ALL modern titles today. When you transition from gaming mode, back to desktop and productivity work, the in-built Radeon 780M Graphics keep your battery life running for longer, allowing the Optimus system to disable the Nvidia RTX 5070 8gb to sleep until you need it for performance tasks!BUILD QUALITY AND CHASSIS:The Nitro V 17 has a good quality build at this price point: Well finished plastic exterior, with a reflective Nitro V logo on the lid of the case are subtle enough for office tasks, as well as taking with you to non-gaming events. The keyboard is nicely backlit, with adjustable light (orange only) and an extended numerical pad on the right side. The built in webcam is serviceable, with a clear enough picture for basic web conferencing and the ability to optimize through Acers PurifiedView and Voice software. A quick access button to switch between balanced, and performance modes sits just above the left side of the keyboard and allows you to select the fastest mode or the best battery performance as you multi-task!CONNECTIVITY:This computer has a glut of connectivity options. WI-FI 6E is built in to ensure ultra low latency connection to your wireless networks (we tested over 1gbit fiber here) and a wired Ethernet gigabit port is a welcome inclusion. 3x USB3.2 ports allow for expanded connectivity, as does the very welcome standard 3mm headphone jack and HDMI output. Bluetooth 5.3 allows connecting wireless headphones and mice with ease.Combined with it's large keyboard and 17.3" IPS Display, this is a very serious desktop replacement candidate for folks that move around. The downside, of course, is weight -- coming in just under 6lbs!OTHER HARDWARE CONSIDERATIONS:This laptop is upgradeable! A second, unpopulated NVME slot is present if you wish to further expand the already spacious Western Digital 1tb drive. 2x 32gb dimms of Samsung sourced DDR5-5600 are installed giving generous, unshared memory capacity for maximum performance (See the CPU-Z details in my images!). Finally, the RTX 5070 8gb card, an absolutely monstrous performer with good heat management allowing it to run fast and cool with the large fan and heatsink grid at the top of the keyboard. The Ryzen 7 260 AI chip is a welcome balance of power and performance, featuring 8 cores, and 16 threads-- with the built in 780m Graphics for low power mobile use.CONCLUSION:A well appointed, thoughtfully balanced laptop at the current 1499 dollar price. The computer performs well in gaming tasks with it's thoughtfully spec'd 1080p fast 144hz IPS panel, and the discreet 8gb graphics card allows you to tackle gaming and AI tasks on the go. It's a big laptop, but it delivers BIG performance for your buck.

This thing is an absolute monster at gaming. In almost every single game I've played, it stays above 240fps with zero problems and that's without frame gen or DLSS. For some reason, this laptop has noticeably lower input lag than my high spec desktop PC despite not being able to produce quite as many frames. Plugging it into an external monitor, you can really tell how powerful and capable this setup is and it's genuinely just impressive what a laptop can do these days. For the price, this is incredible value and so far it takes everything I can throw at it beautifully.The build seems great, nice and compact without being so small that it's easy to fat finger and mistype, stays decently cool while doing most things and it's almost silent most times too. During intense gaming, the heat level does rise and the fans will spin up and get loud if you remove the power limits, but it's got a lot of power and that's to be expected.Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with this laptop. I've had quite a few in the past and they're always just super lackluster and really just there to get you through in a pinch when you need them for traveling, but this thing is truly good enough to game competitively on and without being a huge monstrosity of a behemoth laptop. It's tiny and does it all perfectly.
